The date was August 27, 1959, when the Red Oak, Jupiter and Flat Creek Fire Deparment was organized.
The department was organized by the Red Oak Wildlife Club, which consisted of Prenctice W. England as President,
Glenn Roberts as Vice President and Clovice Crowder as Secretary and Treasurer.
Other Board members consisted of Donald Sprinkle, Harry Pike and CM Crowder.
The Fire Chief was EB Debruyl and Troy Herron was the Assistant Chief.
Roy Roberts, Jr. served as the department's first Captain.
Volunteer firefighters were selected by the Fire Chief.
On September 22, 1960, the department announced the addition of its volunteer firefighters.
The force consisted of Lane Baker, Donald Lewis Sprinkle, Eugene Hendrix, Doyle Linderman,
Rex Thompson, Frank Wilde, Earl Clevenger, Jerry Clevenger and Johnny Roberts.
The folowing youngsters were made honorary members: Kenneth Herron, Jackie Pike and Eddie Debruhl.
The first fire truck owned by the department was a farm truck which was converted into a nice equipped
vehicle with water, hoses, tools and a ladder.
The residents of Red Oak, Jupiter and Flat Creek now had a fire truck which they could call
their very own. Instead of having the convenience of home monitors or pocket fire pagers to alarm
the volunteers of a fire call, they relied upon a neighborhood siren to alert them. Many members would
leave their windows slightly cracked at night to be able to hear the loud sound of the siren.

In 1991, clearing began in preparation for a new fire department building which would sit on the property where Mr Robert's store once stood.
In 1992, the new fire department at 331 Jupiter Rd was finished under the leadership of Chief, Johnny Roberts.
